WildZests: WishList!

WishList!

Let me begin by saying, that this isn't going to be a typical wishlist that you'd expect on a photographer's blog. With the equipment already in my kit and I'm not going to wish for every camera or lens manufactured by Canon. However, the idea of keeping a wishlist is to keep focusing on priorities and make necessary trade-offs whenever required.

If I were to breakdown my wishlist into different sections, here's what it would consist of:

More Field Trips
For a wildlife photographer, the time spent on-field is bliss! Having said that, getting there isn't always easy, especially for those who have a regular day job. Managing that fine balance between work, family, friends, expenses and passion takes it's toll. I want to establish a sustainable mechanism to enable regular visits to various National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries for 3-4 days every month and do 2-3 long haul trips through the year.

Naturalist Training Programme
This has been on my to-do list for 3 quarters now and every time the programme is announced at Banerghatta National Park by S.Karthikeyan, the seats are filled within half a day and I'm left waiting for the next time. On my last trip to Parambilkulam, I was told that there is a similar programme that happens even there but the waiting list is already over a thousand applications. All I need to do is wait and strike at the right moment to participate!

Some More Equipment....May be!
Honestly, this isn't really what I'd keep wishing for, but sometimes you need to upgrade some things on your kit as new things come by. Again, these aren't show-stoppers and I'm okay to wait for the right window of opportunity to pick up things on my list here!
  • 27" iMac or a 15" Macbook Pro for post processing work
  • Canon 580 EX II for the second body
  • Gitzo Monopod with a Arca Swiss Monoball for times when using tripod is difficult (this wish has been granted already!)

As they say, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride. But someday will be my day!
